Bunny the Pit Bull Gets to Go Home

Imagine a pit bull named “Bunny”! Last summer the Pittsburgh Zoo’s female African Painted dog gave birth but died soon after from several stressors, common in captive wild animals; the Zoo called the Western PA Humane Society to see if a wet nurse was available, and another dog was called, but sweet Bunny stayed behind… and nursed that dog’s puppies. Now Bunny finally gets to go home.

Help WPHS in the ASPCA Challenge, Adopt a Beautiful Kitty!

Look at this gorgeous tortoiseshell kitty ready to go home with SOMEONE at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society! They are part of the ASPCA $100,000 challenge and are increasing their adoption numbers to qualify. The WPHS takes in over 13,000 animals every year, and can really use the ASPCA challenge to help more animals.

Today and every Tuesday during our ASPC $100K Challenge is “Tabby Tuesday”! Kittens(under 6 months)… are $40 + tax, Adults(6 months – 6 years) $15 + tax and Seniors(7 years+) $5 + tax.

A Bunny Party!

Rabbits are a very underrated pet, but gaining in popularity; the Pittsburgh House Rabbit Club has a mailing list of 400, up from 40 in 2005. The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society is hosting a free party for owners of rabbits and those who’d like to get to know them better.

Rabbits, and the people who love them, are invited to a free party next Saturday to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Pittsburgh House Rabbit Club.
