The Dog Zombie: The spectrum of hoarding

28 Jul

Sheltering can so easily start to slip down the spectrum. It is a spectrum! Many shelters, real shelters, shelters that have legal non-profit status with the government, shelters that don’t smell like urine and have lots of volunteers and get grants and have spay-neuter services, yes these shelters too can fail to provide minimally acceptable care for their animals. Simply because they have too many.

4 Oct

There’s no question, many of those who abuse animals later on go on to abuse women and/or children, or may be currently abusing women and/or children; and animal abusers are more likely to commit violent crimes than the average person in the general population.

Keystone Online – Pennsylvania’s pigeon shoot problem

19 Sep

Though the shoots themselves are not outlawed in Pennsylvania – the only state which still allows them – the above conditions are not in accordance with Pennsylvania’s animal cruelty laws, which cover pigeons as domestic animals; however, Berks County District Attorney John Adams repeatedly refuses to act on animal cruelty complaints.
