First of all, I love this contest–what a great idea! Second, how did you work this out with Iams?

Now to answer the question: With Gertie, my husband and I (well, mostly I) did a lot of research to determine what breed would work best for us. We’re active and wanted a bigger dog, and we wanted one that would work well with our personalities. My husband is allergic to some dogs, so that was a factor as well. We are both goofballs, so a boxer turned out to be a great match. We got Gertie as a puppy from a farm family. For our second boxer, Duke, we started out fostering him from Mid-Iowa Boxer Rescue, and we knew that we wanted to adopt a shelter or rescue dog for our next one. After fostering Duke for about two days, we knew he would be staying for good. 🙂

If you follow the link, the contest is actually on another blog–I’m glad for the people who can host this because it’s very time-consuming, but for a very good cause! If you comment on the article in the link, Iams will donate 50 MEALS, which I think is totally cool for just a comment.

Gertie and Duke sound wonderful! I’ve always had cats for my schedule and lack of space, but I love playful dogs and have always loved boxers–goofballs is right, and if you and your husband are too, then boxers are definitely for you!

I enjoy my visits to your blog too.
