Should pets eat grass or not?

17 Jun

Grass, to eat or not to eat? My cats love the grass on the windowsill and the real, whole fresh stems of catnip cause a minor riot. I consider this a valuable activity for indoor cats, and I don’t think the chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals are bad for them, either. Dr. Robinson actually looked it up and writes about it.

The other day, I heard a client being advised not to let her cat eat grass, because when he does, he vomits. As a “natural medicine” vet, this upset me at first. Why impede an individual’s normal, innate impulse to consume greenery, especially if they are ingesting it for health purposes?
